How to Setup a Multiple Display System

Complete System or Quad Video Card?

Setting up multiple monitors is easier than you think. But first you must decide between two scenarios. Either you want a complete Multi-Monitor Computer ready for work out of the box. Or you are going to do it yourself by installing a quad video card into your existing system, either way we have a solution for you.

COMPLETE MULTI DISPLAY SYSTEMS

I want a complete system ready for work out of the box.
If you would like a complete system ready for work, see our trademark QuadStation Systems now. We will do the work for you and ship it right to your door.

How many displays you would like to have, 3, 4, 6 or even 12?
This is the starting point and will determine which system configuration you will need. All you have to do is decide how many displays you want, and leave the rest up to us.

How much desktop space do I have?
If you are using LCD flat panels and our LCD Monitor Mounts this is usually not a problem as this helps to conserve desktop space. If you are using older full size CRT monitors, then you need to have enough space for all of your monitors.

Should I allow for expansion?
If you think there is even a slight possibility you may want additional displays in the future, allow for it now when deciding how many displays to start with. More often than not, customers want additional displays later wishing they had started with more. For example, if you are on the fence between a 4 and a 6 monitor system, go with the 6. You don't have to use all monitors at first, just plug them in later when you are ready.

MULTI DISPLAY QUAD VIDEO CARDS

I want to install a new multi display video card into my existing system.
If you have a small amount of technical skill, and your current computer system supports it, you can install your own multi display video card.

Which video card should I use?
This depends upon 2 things. The available slots on your computer's motherboard, and how displays you would like to have. If you are not sure, give us a call at 800.346.0732. We will help you decide.

PCI or PCI Express?
It depends on your computer, but basically, it breaks down like this. If you have an older system you must use a PCI style video card. If you have a newer computer you can use the faster PCI Express style. Again we can help you decide if you are unsure.

How many displays can I have if I install my own video card?
Normally up to 4, but again this depends on your current computer's motherboard. It is possible to install 2 video cards in your system for a total of up to 8 but requires a bit more technical skill. If you are confident you can do this then you are all set. Give us a call to help you decide if your motherboard will support 2 cards.

LCD MONITOR MOUNTS

How do I connect my LCD monitors together?
Whether you are considering buying a complete multi display computer from us, or expanding displays on an existing computer, you will need an LCD monitor mount to connect all of your LCD monitors together. LCD mounts create a much more efficient and productive workspace and we have mounts to support from 2 to 12 displays.

Are my monitors compatible with your LCD monitor mounts?
Yes most likely. If you already have LCD monitors and you are purchasing one of our mounting systems just make sure your LCD displays have a VESA type mounting pattern on the back which most of them do. Sometimes they are covered up by the manufacturers sticker. Read more about VESA standards.

Can I buy LCDs from NTI?
Yes. We offer complete turn key systems including monitors and mounts. If you already have a few existing monitors you can use those with our system as well. Mixing and matching different models and sizes with our systems and mounts is ok.
